Fire Garden

A captivating display of fire is set to transform Miller Park into a place of wonder and excitement.

The Fire Garden will take place in the city centre park over the weekend of Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 December.

Visitors will be able to explore flame-lined paths among copper flowers that breathe fire, flaming lotus flowers, bushes and shrubs.

Flower-like cogs will turn to pull a chain through a watering can of paraffin, which ignites it as it rises, creating a continuous cycle of flaming flowers.

During Saturday there will be music from Red Rosettes, while Sunday will see a performance from Singspiration Choir.

There will also be fire breathing and dancing by Wolf Entertainment, samba band and dancers Sambafriq, dance from Blue Moose, and stilt walkers, Artemis.

The event is brought to Preston by the award-winning Walk the Plank, a company with a track record of making ambitious, creative outdoor arts.

It’s the second year the Fire Garden has taken place in the city.

In 2023, Councillor Peter Kelly, then Cabinet member for Arts and Culture at Preston City Council, described the event as “a unique cultural addition to Preston’s landscape, showcasing a commitment to both artistry and sustainability.”

The fire garden is free to enter and walk around. Entry times are every 15 minutes from 5pm to 6.45pm, and you can book your tickets on Eventbrite.
