A takeaway restaurant on Church Street had to be demolished as a result of the major fire in Preston city centre two weeks ago.
Aliz’s takeaway was found to be badly damaged and at risk of collapse – and so also had to be tumbled.
The upper floors of 131A Church Street started to be brought down on Wednesday last week and continued into Thursday and Friday.

Last week after a structural inspection, the floors of the building above the Aliz takeaway were to be taken down but the city council said the takeaway itself would remain.
Now, Preston City Council have released an update after progress was made on the demolition site.
A spokesperson said: “Unfortunately, the adjoining grade II listed building, 131a Church Street has been badly damaged by the fire and parts of it are at risk of collapse.
“Whilst the Council is fully aware of its legal duty to preserve heritage assets, due to the damage from the fire and without the rear building provided structural support, the listed building is now unrestrained, and demolition was required to prevent collapse.”
This follows the demolition of 131 Church Street which was deemed to be unsafe after being ravaged by fire. The roads around Church Street are now fully re-opened and all road closures lifted.
