This year local hero Bill Hodgson is set to take on his biggest Santa’s Slog yet to raise money for charity.

Bill from Kirkham, who has completed many charity challenges in the past, including flipping a 226kg tyre on Preston’s Flag Market for over 24 hours, is set to push the limits by beginning this one in Ireland.

He aims to pull a 45kg Santa in his sleigh all the way from the west coast at The Cliffs Of Moher to Kirkham in just under two weeks.

Bill and the team made their way to Ireland during Tuesday morning and Wednesday was the start of his long journey.

He will make his way across Ireland’s terrain without hotels, toilets, or cafes and will finish the first part of the Slog at Dublin Port.

Then Bill will take the ferry to Holyhead, where he will make his way to Bangor, Rhyl, and then meet the rest of the team and the dreaded 1/4-ton sleigh in Liverpool.

He will pull the sleigh and Santa through Liverpool and to Preston, then finish the Slog in Kirkham on Saturday 7 December at around 7:30pm.

All money raised from the challenge will go to local charities, such as Care For Kids, Mission Christmas Cash For Kids, Donna’s Dream House, and Bumbleance.

So far, Bill has already raised £2,000.

His first Santa’s Slog challenge was in December 2020, where Bill pulled Santa in his sleigh from Fleetwood to Kirkham in under eight hours. And last year Bill pushed the challenge and set off from Edinburgh.
