A music venue and events space in Preston has announced it will close permanently as 2024 ends and 2025 begins.
Riva Showbar, on Tithebarn Street, is known for hosting Bongo’s Bingo, MMA, white collar boxing, live music, tributes and family and children’s events.
But the venue will close with a final Bongo’s Bingo event on New Year’s Eve meaning one less venue and event space for people in Preston to utilise.

Jonny Bongo, Bongo’s Bingo’s co-founder says: “We’ve had so many incredible parties at Riva Showbar in Preston, it’s such a shame this is going to be our last run of shows there.
“For this final blast of Bongo’s Bingo, I know it’s going to be extra special as we celebrate the good times with three huge dates, including a Halloween special and New Year’s Eve too. It’s a fantastic venue and we’re going to make signing off extra special.”
There are three Bongo’s Bingo events left to run in total at Riva Preston – beginning this Saturday. Tickets are available here.
The closure of another significant event space will be seen as a blow to Preston’s nightlife offering.
The Autumn events calendar was boosted by the opening of The Guild Lounge inside The Guild Hall building but the main venues remain closed indefinitely.
The Ferret, on Fylde Road, recently celebrated 18 years delivering live music to people in Preston.
