Two car parks in South Ribble have had their restrictions lifted after consultation with the public.

Hope Terrace in Lostock Hall and King Street in Leyland were previously under three hour no return restrictions and resident feedback indicated this was having a negative impact on shopping and recreational areas.

New rules were put in place at the car parks from 23 October meeting one hour parking is free, up to three hours is £1, all day is £3 and seven days is £12.

Matthew Tomlinson, Cabinet Member for Finance, Assets and Commercialisation at South Ribble Borough Council, said, “I’m pleased we have been able to drive this change forward. Our councillors and our residents are our eyes and ears in our communities and experience first-hand the impact of our decision making.

“I want to thank all our residents and businesses in the areas of the car parks for sharing their feedback and letting us know the impact the car park restrictions were having on how people used our local centres.

“We will continue to listen to our communities and make decisions which can ensure our communities, local shopping and recreational spaces can thrive.”
