A business with over 270 stores worldwide is the latest to set its sights on a Preston opening.
MB Chicken, a Canadian eatery also known as Mary Brown’s Chicken, has announced plans to open across ‘all territories in the UK’ and signage confirmed Preston would be its new spot. Blog Preston understands they are aiming for a January 2025 opening date.
Unfortunately Preston will just miss out on being the first spot in Great Britain that MB Chicken opens – not quite mirroring when KFC opened its first UK restaurant at Fishergate. Hounslow will open before the Preston store. The food is described as hand-cut fried chicken, taters, sandwiches and tenders.

MB Chicken currently has sites at Belfast and Lisburn in Northern Ireland.
The site at Miller Arcade on Church Street had previously been home to a Fino Tapas pop-up site, established to serve extra customers over a busy Christmas period when Mark O’Rourke owned the business.
Before that, the restaurant was home to The Olive Tree, which closed in 2021. Plans from O’Rourke to open the site as an English brasserie never fully materialised.
