A dispersal order is in place in Preston city centre after reports of anti-social behaviour.

Police said they have received information to suggest anti-social behaviour in the city centre and have therefore put in place a Section 34 dispersal order this evening (24 October).

This gives police officers and police community support traffic officers powers to direct people who are engaging in antisocial behaviour or are likely to become involved in such incidents.

The order is in place until 1am tomorrow morning (25 October).

A spokesperson for police said: “We have received information to suggest that there has been reports of ASB in and around Preston City Centre this evening.

“We are doing everything in our power to stop that from happening and keep the public safe. With that in mind, a Section 34 dispersal order has been put in place to prevent disorder and allow other members of the community to enjoy the city centre without any issue.

“The area covered by the order is bounded by Corporation Street junction with Fishergate, up the A59 and along Corporation Street to its junction with Walker Street, along Walker Street to its junction with the A6, along A6 Stanley Street and London Road to its junction with Queens Street, Avenham Lane.”
