A councillor who lost his seat in last year’s Local Election has won his place on the council back in a by-election.
Conservative Bobby Rigby represented Warton and Westby ward on Fylde Council from 2019 to 2023, only to miss out on re-election when the boundaries were redrawn last year. Then, he lost in the new Warton seat to long-serving Julie Brickles and fellow Tory Sandra Pitman.
Tragically, Cllr Brickles died earlier this year and a by-election was held on Thursday, October 10. Cllr Rigby won the seat in a vote which received a 17.3% turnout.

Fylde MP Andrew Snowden was among those campaigning for Rigby and he shared his congratulations on social media after the result was declared. He said: “Huge #ConGain tonight in Warton, Fylde. Thanks to everyone who has worked so hard for this and a huge congratulations to Cllr Bobby Rigby. The fightback in Fylde is on.”
