A woman who thought her chance of attending BBC Radio 2 In The Park in Moor Park had gone when she broke her leg just hours before the festival ended up having the day to remember.
Karen Pettit had been walking around the edge of the festival site during Friday evening ahead of going on the Saturday which she had tickets for.
But the 44-year-old ‘fell in a hole in the grass’ on the edge of the festival site and broke her leg in two places – spending until the early hours of Saturday morning in Royal Preston Hospital.

When Blog Preston reported on what happened to Karen and approached the BBC and Preston City Council for comment the festival organisers leapt into action.
Karen, who lives in Watling Street Road, told Blog Preston: “I was so upset at thinking I wouldn’t be able to get there and go, and I was in a lot of pain.
“I’d been looking forward to going for months and then in that moment it was all gone.
“Thanks to Blog Preston I received a phone call and the organisers sorted a taxi to get us right to the site, and then we’ve had a wheelchair and been able to sit in the viewing area in the accessibility stand.
“They let me bring a friend with me as well. It’s just been the most amazing experience.
“The festival is so well set up for people who do have a disability or like me have something which means they are physically less-able at the moment.”
Karen said she had people coming over to say ‘you’re the woman who broke her leg’ after they read about the story on Blog Preston.
She said: “It’s a bit surreal. I had so many messages and comments from people wishing me well.
“And then I get here and people are saying ‘oh wow, hope you’re okay'”.
A Preston City Council spokesperson said: “We are delighted that Karen felt up for coming to the event and that she got to enjoy her day after all.
“The BBC were amazing and made sure she got all the help she needed to make it happen.”
