National Highways North West is saying delays are expected until around 7.30pm on the M6.
A spokesperson said: “Our officers at the scene as recovery and clear up works take place after a collision. Recovery is being arranged.”
A third lane was also shut but re-opened around 4.30pm but work to clear the rest of the carriageway of debris and oil is still needed. All lanes re-opened around 5.20pm on Thursday.
A spokesperson for Preston Police told Blog Preston two cars were involved in the crash with one driver suffering minor injuries.
Congestion is already back to Junction 33 for Garstang and back onto the M55 too at the Broughton interchange.
The delays are due to a crash around 3.30pm close to Junction 30 towards where the M6 meets the M61.
