Thousands of hardy souls braved a day of rain to see out BBC Radio 2 in the Park in Preston.

Sunday’s day of downpour sat in stark contrast to pleasant conditions on Saturday and saw conditions underfoot turn rapidly.

But while some people chose to exit the site early, the majority donned ponchos to tough out the weather and catch Manic Street Preachers, Sister Sledge and Paul Heaton, with Pet Shop Boys set to headline.

Warning signs flashed up on the main stage throughout the afternoon urging people to take care as wet ground created a potential hazard.

Former Preston North End boss David Moyes was among the attendees braving the rain.

Some food traders told Blog Preston they had been informed by organisers they were unlikely to be able to exit the site until Wednesday as a result of the rain.

Cramped conditions on Saturday were eased somewhat by a reconfiguration of the site, confirmed by the BBC this morning when asked by Blog Preston.

A BBC spokesperson said: “We have put in more walkways and reconfigured some barriers lines to ensure there are more clearly marked walkways for today’s event. And, given the forecast, we would like to remind anyone attending to please wear suitable footwear for both the weather – and for dancing!”
