Seven car parks across South Ribble change payment system

Users of car parks in South Ribble will need to download a new app after a new payment system was introduced as September began.

Seven car parks in the borough have shifted from RingGo to MiPermit as of 1 September with no changes to rates.

This is part of plans to standardise parking services through South Ribble, the council said.

Matthew Tomlinson Cabinet Member for Finance, Assets and Commercialisation at South Ribble Borough Council, said: “The transition to the MiPermit parking app marks a significant step towards modernising our car park facilities.

“This streamlined approach not only simplifies parking for residents but also enhances convenience and efficiency across our parking areas.

“Introducing this technology ensures a smoother, more user-friendly experience for everyone.”

The changes are valid at King Street, Churchill Way, Sumner Street, Ecroyd Street, East Street, Leyland Railway Station and Hope Terrace in Lostock Hall.

MiPermit is a cashless service that allows people to pay for parking in advance if need be. It can be downloaded from Google Play or the IOS App store.

The South Ribble Borough Council website states that cash payments can still be made at all of their machines.
