Preston café owner Kelly Davies has appeared on BBC Radio 2 ahead of the radio station’s festival turning up in her back yard.

Rosemary On The Park founder had a chat with DJ Spoony live on air during Monday afternoon.

She said: “I actually own the one and only little bijous café on Moor Park.

“Rosemary was my mummy. It’s named after my mummy. It’s a lovely little old bowling pavilion café.

“We’ve been open six-and-a-half years and the park didn’t have a café for 40 years before that.”

DJ Spoony asked for apple crumble and custard to be on the menu and Kellie said for Spoony she ‘would do anything’.

He then went into his ratios of crumble to custard (two parts crumble).

Kellie said: “We’ve changed the whole of our café. We’re doing a ‘Disco Divas’ BBQ for the weekend.”

They chatted through the adapted menu for the weekend which has been tweaked to reflect the Radio 2 presenting line-up.

This includes a Vernon ‘Big Lad’ Burger, a Dermot ‘Dirty Dog’ and a Sara ‘Hallo-me’ Burger.

During the Radio 2 In The Park festival the café will be closed inside on Friday 6 September, Saturday 7 September and Sunday 8 September and serving only as an outdoor eatery with the BBQ operating from 10am each day during the festival.

You can listen to Kelly’s chat on BBC Sounds – skip to 24 minutes to hear it.
