There are delays on the M6 this afternoon after a car fire.
The incident was first reported at 10.40am this morning (29 September) with Lancashire Fire & Rescue Service and motorway police called to the scene.
The fire happened between junction 33 for Garstang and junction 32 for Broughton on the southbound carriageway of the M6. There is a lane closure in place and delays of 45 minutes.

The car has been extinguished and recovery has been arranged, National Highways: North West said.
A spokesperson said “1 lane (of 3) is closed on the M6 southbound in Lancashire between J33 (for Garstang) and J32 (M55) due to a car fire. The vehicle has been extinguished and recovery has been arranged.”
“There’s a 45 minute delay on approach with seven miles of congestion. Allow extra journey time.”
