Leyland Market will move to Kings Court for 12 months to allow a major refurbishment to take place.
The last day of trading will take place on Tuesday, September 24 with the new new location in use from Friday, September 27.
The market refurbishment is a key part of the Leyland Town Deal which is seeing major changes enabled by Government funding. During the temporary move, the interior of the existing market building will be refurbished to update the branding and signage for the stalls and central stalls will be upgraded.

The market will also be expanded with new external stalls added to wrap the market building and create a relationship with a new market square. A new roof is to be added to the historic building to give it a more sustainable future.
The temporary location, Kings Court, is located a few minutes from the main site and it will continue to operate with Tuesday, Friday and Saturday market days.
South Ribble Borough Council says traders traders were offered a relocation package, in which the authority would support with the move and freeze rates for the period of the relocation. Alternatively, they could accept a statutory compensation package based on the value of their business.
While some traders chose not to relocate, others will do so and among those is L&L Events who have welcomed the news. Posting on Facebook, they said: “After a very stressful year of uncertainty, we are really pleased to let you know that we have secured premises to keep on trading whilst the market gets refurbed 🎉 Please keep on supporting our small business 🙏🩷
“For us the last trading day at the original market will be Saturday 21st September and reopening on kings court on Friday 27th September.”
Councillor Jacky Alty, Leader of South Ribble Borough Council said, “I’m delighted that we are approaching the start of the market refurbishment works. The market sits at the heart of Leyland, and this investment allows the market to continue to be enjoyed by many generations to come.
“The Leyland Town Deal is a once in a lifetime investment for the borough and I cannot wait to see the next chapter for Leyland come to life.”
