Heavily contested plans to open a takeaway fried chicken shop in Penwortham appear to have been dropped.
Despite objections from 122 residents, South Ribble Borough Council approved plans for a unit on Liverpool Road to be converted into a new branch of Chesters Chicken. The decision had already been pushed back during a meeting in April and the approval was granted somewhat reluctantly when the matter came back before the committee.
However, it now seems the plans have been dropped altogether with signs placed in the window stating the unit – which was previously occupied by ConsultUs – will soon open as a nail salon.

Few other details are listed on the banner which states the salon is coming soon.
Among the reasons listed by neighbours objecting to the Chesters plan were nuisance, smell noise, while Penwortham Town Council also raised concerns over the potential health impact on children in the area.
