Five arrests were made during the BBC Radio 2 in the Park weekend in Preston from Friday 6 to Sunday 8 September including a Penwortham woman accused of attacking a police officer.

The three-day event took place in Moor Park, kicking off with a DJ Pre-Party on Friday and then the main event on Saturday and Sunday.

Over 70,000 people were said to have descended on the park on Saturday and Sunday, with Preston Police working hard to keep those in attendance safe.

Police say five arrests were made during the course of the festival weekend.

A 59-year-old woman from Penwortham was arrested on suspicion of assaulting a police officer.

Two men, aged 53, and a woman, aged 54, were also arrested on suspicion of being drunk and disorderly and a 27-year-old man from Chorley was arrested on suspicion of theft by an employee at the festival.

No charges have been brought in connection with any of the arrests at this stage.

During Saturday evening a British Transport Police officer was stabbed at Preston Railway Station, along with a rail worker, but police say this was not connected to the festival weekend. A man has now been charged with attempted murder over the station attack.
