Adnan from Freddie’s Field of Dreams speaks about ‘brilliant’ second series

A refugee from Afghanistan who found himself the star turn of Freddie’s Field of Dreams has told of his delight at the second series.

Filmed in Preston the series saw Adnan capture the hearts of millions during series one and he’s continued to make Flintoff, teammates and the city smile.

He was granted asylum after the first series – although his initial application was rejected – with the former England cricket ace among those to write in and ask for an appeal.

Adnan, 18, comes to the team’s rescue a number of times during their tour of India, hitting the winning runs.

His foster parents, Barry and Elaine who foster for Lancashire County Council, signed Adnan up for a local cricket side to hone his talents.

Adnan said: “It’s always been a simple dream of mine to play cricket, professionally but I also want to continue with my studies as well.

“I’d love to do more filming as well, especially with my Field of Dreams family.

“Since the first series of Field of Dreams, I have always had great feedback all along. The second series, the feedback was even better, really brilliant.”

The second series sees Freddie Flintoff appear for the first time in an extended appearance since his near-death crash while filming Top Gear.

He is visibly shaken and emotional as he meets up with the Preston lads ahead of their trip abroad.

Adnan said: “It was really good filming the show and I really enjoyed it. It was horrible to hear about Freddie’s accident and I was so happy to see him again. I couldn’t believe that he was really in front of me as the accident was so horrible. I am so relieved.”

Adnan’s foster mum, Elaine, added: “We are so hugely proud of him in everything that he has done. He gives back so much to the whole family and he works so hard.

“We love him and are so proud of him.”
