The A6 London Way in Walton-Le-Dale has re-opened as police dealt with an incident.
The roundabout with B6230 Hennel Lane was shut due to a concern for welfare, police said.
It is believed they received a call at 2.09pm during Wednesday (4 September) afternoon, reporting a woman on the bridge.

A spokesperson said: “A6 London Way, Walton-Le-Dale is currently closed near the roundabout with B6230 Hennel Lane due to a concern for welfare.
“We anticipate that the road will be closed for some time, whilst we assess the situation.
“In the meantime, we’d recommend looking for an alternative route and driving carefully, leaving plenty of extra time to get to your destination.”
Brownedge Road through Bamber Bridge was very busy as drivers seek an alternative route to avoid the London Way closure.
The road re-opened around 6.30pm and it is understood the incident was resolved safely. Police thanked the public for their patience.
