Police have released items of clothing worn by a woman who was found dead in Whittle-le-Woods as they work to identify her.

The woman, aged between 40 to 50-years-old was found in Dawson Lane in Chorley during Friday 23 August morning.

Chorley Police say the woman’s death is not being treated as suspicious and they believe she was sleeping rough at the time, as a silver-coloured tent and rain cover was found with her.

The woman was found at 11.44am on Friday and police say there is no evidence of third-party involvement.

A spokesperson for police said: “Despite the best efforts of our officers, the woman remains unidentified, and we’d like your help to ensure her family and friends are traced and made aware of the sad news.

“She did also have a phone in her possession, but officers have been unable to get any data from this that would help to identify her. Her fingerprints are also not on our database.

“We’re asking anyone who may be missing a loved one that could match the description of this woman to get in touch with us.”

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101 quoting LC-20240823-0651.
