Patients were broadly unaffected despite Royal Preston Hospital being hit by today’s water outage, Blog Preston understands.
The supply to the hospital was stopped – as with many residents across the area – but on-site back-up supplies of water meant that there was not a point where there was no access to it, a spokesperson for Royal Preston Hospital said.
The usual supply of water to the hospital was down for several hours as part of an incident that is being investigated by United Utilities. It has since been restored.

As part of safeguards to ensure those at the hospitals were unaffected, United Utilities also sent tankers of water to serve the site if required.
Residents and businesses across PR2, PR3 and PR5 postcodes were affected by either no water or low water pressure this morning.
A spokesperson for United Utilities said: “A technical fault has occurred at one of our water works, causing no water or low pressure for some customers in the Preston and Blackburn area. Please be assured, we’re making progress and doing all we can to get this resolved and reduce the impact to supplies in the area.”
The incident is still listed as active at the time of publication.
