Preston woman jailed after lifting £850 in skincare products from Boots

A shoplifter has been jailed after shoplifting around £850 in skincare products from a store in Preston.

Officers from the City Centre Neighbourhood Policing team were called to Boots on Fishergate last Tuesday (13 August).

It was reported that skincare, worth around £850, had been stolen from the store. A woman was arrested on suspicion of theft.

Nikki Rogers, 36, of Ripon Street, Preston was then charged with theft and breach of a Criminal Behaviour Order.

Rogers appeared in court last Friday (16 August) where she pleaded guilty to the charges and was jailed for four months. She will also be subject to the Criminal Behaviour Order which prevents her from entering city centre stores and shopping centres until 2027.

Inspector Dave Byrne from Preston’s Neighbourhood Policing team said: “Shoplifting can have a significant negative impact on businesses, shop staff and our local communities.

“This is a really positive result which will hopefully provide reassurance that we take this crime very seriously and will continue to work closely with our partners to ensure that shoplifters are brought to justice.”

A spokesperson for police added: “Operation Vulture is Lancashire Constabulary’s response to shoplifting across the county, backed by Lancashire’s Police and Crime Commissioner Clive Grunshaw.

“The operation sees dedicated officers undertaking hotspot patrolling, increasing their visibility in targeted areas and creating strong partnerships with retailers across the county to better share intelligence, get a deeper understanding of retail crime and identify more offenders.”
