Preston City Wrestling (PCW) returned to the Flag Market on Saturday 17th August, captivating fans with an afternoon of high-octane action, theatrical performance and “did I just see that” moments only professional wrestling can deliver.

Spectators gathered to witness a line-up of matches, from individual bouts to tag teams and even a 10 man match.

This year’s event including both seasoned professionals and rising stars from the local and international wrestling scenes, such as Rossy Rascal, Jordan Kane, Philip Michael and Liam Cafferkey. The event was free for those standing, with seated tickets available to purchase for £5 for those wanting to get close to the ringside.

Blog Preston spoke to Stephen Fludder, Owner of Preston City Wrestling, who reflected on the significance of this year’s event: “It’s the 10th year of us doing this. We started out with small crowds, a small company. As we got bigger and bigger, we still stuck to providing this free event every year run with Preston City Council. We’ve reached global audiences, but there’s nothing performing in your hometown of Preston.”

One standout moment of the event that could be considered an “iconic Preston moment” occurred when Rossy Rascal and Jack Johnson took their rivalry beyond the ring and into the crowd. In a dramatic display, Rossy slammed his opponent into the famous Spud Brothers catering van before quickly ordering a potato and smashing it into his face, while the surrounding crowd cheered and laughed.

Elsewhere, a match between Ernest Boggs and Chris Angel focussed on a Lancashire and Yorkshire “War of the Roses” rivalry between the two competitors, drawing a lot of good-humoured engagement and chants from spectators.
