A busy food outlet on Friargate is closed for five weeks to undergo renovation.
McDonald’s is set to undergo a facelift which it was due to receive before the pandemic struck – with work delayed by lockdowns.
Changes to the restaurant were approved for a second time early this year after the initial permission expired.

A spokesperson for McDonald’s said: “Our Friargate McDonald’s is now temporarily closed for a fabulous makeover! While we’re hard at work creating a fresh, new look, you can still enjoy your McDonald’s favourites at our Fishergate location.
“We can’t wait to unveil the new and improved Friargate McDonald’s soon!”
Plans include the redecoration of the external shop front with new matt ceramic tiling. The current cladding had become damaged and the new material aims to be more sympathetic to the building in which McDonald’s is housed.
The fascia board at the front is to be resprayed in a grey colour and the advertisements at the front will be reinstated as part of the work.
The restaurant has been closed since 8pm on Sunday (11 August). The aim is to reopen by 18 September.
