Man, 52, dies in hospital after e-bike crash in Walton-le-Dale at foot of Chorley Road hill

A man has died in hospital after a crash in Walton-le-Dale.

The man, 52, is believed to have crashed into the kerb at a mini-roundabout and fallen from an e-bike on Chorley Road, Walton-le-Dale, on 13 July, police said.

The incident happened at the junction with Hennel Lane and the man was travelling down the hill before crash.

He died of his injuries in hospital on 21 July and police were not contacted at the time of the crash. A woman is believed to have stopped at the scene to help the man and police would like to speak with her.

Lancashire Police are now appealing for witnesses and footage relating to the incident.

A spokesperson for police said: “The rider, a 52-year-old man, is believed to have collided with the kerb at a mini-roundabout and fallen from the e-bike on Chorley Road, Walton-le-Dale, on 13th July.

“He very sadly died from his injuries on 21st July in hospital. Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones at this distressing time. No other vehicles were involved.

“The death was reported to us by the Coroner’s Officer on 5th August, with the police not having been contacted at the time of the collision.

“As part of our investigation, we are appealing for witnesses and for anyone who has dashcam or CCTV footage from the area.

“We believe a vehicle stopped at the scene and a woman got out to help the e-bike rider. We would like her to contact us.”
