A junior football club has raised the last £100 to help a bowling alley in Preston buy a defibrillator.

Red Rose Bowl, based on Greenbank Street, started a fundraiser in May to raise half the money to be able to buy and install a defibrillator outside their bowling alley.

Dan and Becci Cassidy, football coaches at Longsands JFC set up a scratch card fundraiser to raise the remaining amount.

Parents of the U13s Yellow at Longsands were able to put together funds to give the initiative one final push by buying the scratch cards.

Joanne Gillies, the manager, said: “We are so proud to have beaten our target thank you to everyone who has donated.”

Red Rose Bowl are sponsors of the club for the coming season.

Over £900 was raised altogether through donation tubs and sponsored bowling sessions. The bowling alley will now be able to buy a defibrillator, a piece of life-saving equipment which helps those who suffer a cardiac arrest.
