A gym in Fulwood is taking on a ‘big fitness challenge’ in memory of one of its beloved members.

EveryBody Fit gym (EBF), based on Lytham Road, is hosting a charity event this weekend, to raise money for St Catherine’s Hospice, which looked after Daisy-Mae.

Daisy-Mae was a cherished member of the gym who lost her battle with cancer in February last year after being cared for by the hospice. This is the second event the gym are hosting in memory of her.

Cheryl Hughes, who owns the gym and arranged the event, said: “Her passing left a significant void in our hearts.

“We have a purple heart on the wall in our gym in memory of Daisy-Mae, symbolising that her spirit will always be with EBF. Purple was her favourite colour, and it beautifully represents the love and light she brought into our lives.”

The gym has decided to give back to the hospice by covering 1,210,652 metres across 11 pieces of cardio equipment in just seven hours and receiving sponsorships for their efforts.

The 210,652 represents Daisy-Mae’s date of birth.

They have already raised over £1,200 via their Just Giving Page.

The gym’s members and family members will be taking part in the day aiming to bring everyone together and encourage community support. Anyone is able to go and watch the challenge and show their support.

Cheryl added: “As a gym we really do pride ourselves on the community we have and whilst some of the people taking part on Saturday are new to us at EveryBody Fit and didn’t know Daisy-Mae, they want to be involved in the charity event as it’s raising money for such a great cause.”

Around 30 people are expected to be taking part during the day. The challenge is set to start at 8am on Saturday 31 August. You can donate here.
