Firefighters stood down after Harris fire alarm

A fire crews were seen outside the city’s Harris Museum and Art Gallery in Preston city centre during Monday lunchtime.
Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service sent a crew to reports of an automated alarm being triggered in Harris Street.
Firefighters attended but were stood down.

The fire crews were parked up in Lancaster Road around 12noon on Monday (12 August).
The Harris is currently undergoing an extensive renovation to the listed building which houses an art gallery, museum, library and venue spaces.
It’s due to re-open in Spring 2025 having been closed by that point for three years.
