A number of bus services will see changes in September after a public consultation was held across the summer.

Many routes have seen new services added, more frequent buses or routes extended to take in extra stops.

However, there will be fewer services elsewhere to either improve punctuality or to respond to reduced demand.

The number 100 service – the Portway Park & Ride – has been axed entirely, with those services replaced by extensions to other routes or new services. Customers travelling to Farrington Park should use the new 16 service and those travelling to Portway, docks, Ashton and Larches should use the 19 or 20 service.

The rest of the changes are outlined below. Changes are valid from 2 September.

Number 6 – Preston Bus Station to James Hall Distribution Centre

All journeys on the number 6 bus will now travel to the James Hall Distribution Centre. The route will be otherwise unchanged.

Buses will be every 15-20 minutes on Monday-Saturday, every 30 minutes on Sunday daytime but less frequent in evenings.

Number 8 – Preston Bus Station to Moor Nook

Timetable changes made throughout the week to improve punctuality of services. First journey on Saturday to begin at Moor Nook rather than Preston Bus Station.

Number 16 – Preston Bus Station – Farringdon Park

The new 16 service will operate every 10-20 minutes in the daytime. Additional journeys will be extended to the Railway Station on weekdays in response to feedback. These will be inbound in the morning between 4.30am and 7.30am and outbound from 5pm to 7.30pm.

Connector 19/20 – Docks – Portway – Rail & Bus Stations – Royal Preston Hospital

Service 19 is extended to head to Larches via Fishergate, Railway Sation, Portway and Mariners Way. Service 20 will mirror service 19 Royal Preston Hospital and Ashton, Pedders Lane, before continuing to Lea.

These services will operate every 20 minutes at peak times with the intention of partially replacing the withdrawn 100 service. All journeys on both services will visit Portway Park & Ride.

Number 23 – Preston Bus Station – Fulwood Asda

General frequency remains unchanged but changes to timetable to increase punctuality. An early journey on a Saturday have been axed due to low useage but alternative journeys are available 30 minutes earlier or later in each case.

Number 31 – Preston Bus Station – Lea via Savick

The service will operate every 30 minutes Monday-Saturday daytimes to ‘better match demand’.

Preston Bus is seeking parking restrictions in Lea and Savick to prevent delays in residential areas. If this happens, Ainsdale Drive, Lea Road, Thorntrees Avenue, Thornpark Drive, Hawthorn Crescent, Parkthorn Road and Campion Drive will be re-added to the route.

An early journey from Lea is added at 6.36am on Saturdays.

Number 35 – Preston Bus Station – Tanterton

Services will be added to provide a bus every 10 minutes during weekday daytimes. They will be every 15 minutes late afternoon on Saturdays.

The following services will see minor timetable changes: 43, 44, 45, 46 and 48.

The following services are unchanged: 25A, 65, 66, 66S, 67, 69, 76, 78, 114, 287, 289, 311, 312, C4.
