Two men have been arrested after suspected stolen goods were recovered from a vehicle in Longridge.

Police stopped the car, a Honda Civic, in Longridge on Wednesday (3 July) and seized 11 bin bags full of electronic goods, cosmetics, hardware, pens, clothing and food items.

A 39-year-old man from Wiltshire was arrested on suspicion of theft and handling stolen goods, and a 34-year-old man from London was arrested on suspicion of theft. Both have been released on bail with conditions.

It is believed, according to police, that the property was stolen from shops in Cumbria and Lancashire – between Barrow-in-Furness and Garstang specifically.

Stores who believe they may have been targeted are asking to contact police.

A spokesperson for police said: “On Wednesday, officers from Lancashire Police’s Specialist Operations unit stopped a Honda Civic car in Longridge.

“Seized from the car were 11 bin bags which contained electronic goods, cosmetics, hardware, pens, clothing, and food items.

“The property is of high value – several thousand pounds worth – and we are looking to reunited stores with their goods.

“If any stores between Barrow-in-Furness and Garstang – we think it will be large shops involved – suspect goods were stolen yesterday (3rd July), we ask them to contact us.”
