Lancaster and Wyre’s new MP will be decided in the early hours of Friday morning.
Five candidates are standing in the constituency with all major parties represented but no independent candidates.
There was disappointment over a cancelled hustings event at St Thomas’s Church, Lancaster which caused a minor row but ultimately attributed to the Conservative candidate testing positive for Covid.

This is a new constituency for the 2024 general election but Cat Smith, previously MP for Lancaster and Fleetwood, is the closest thing to an incumbent. She was MP from 2015.
The result in Lancaster & Wyre is expected to be confirmed at 3.30am and this article will be updated when that happens.
