The football facility will be created inside an old warehouse

A goalkeeper coach who’s worked at clubs including Preston North End and Everton has revealed plans to open his own indoor facility.

Andy Fairman currently works at Bolton Wanderers as well as running his own business delivering 1-2-1 and small group sessions. In a bid to grow the business and meet rising demand, he is planning to convert a former warehouse in Whittle-le-Woods into a football facility.

Plans have been submitted to Chorley Borough Council, with the location off Town Lane chosen to suit customers coming from places including Preston, Blackpool and Greater Manchester.

According to Andy, there are no other facilities in the area that offer this service, with the nearest alternatives in Preston, Manchester and Liverpool. The facility will be used for a private indoor football training for groups of up to six people.

The business, named Andy Fairman Pro Goalkeeping, has been running for nearly two years providing professional goalkeeper coaching for all levels from grassroots to professional and academy keepers. The unit will immediately cater for 50 existing customers, with the capability of accommodating 192 customers and allowing the employment of four more employees.

Andy said: “The main reason for choosing this facility is its accessibility to the local and surrounding towns and cities which are well serviced by a good motorway connections including Chorley, Manchester, Preston and Bolton

“From personal experience setting up this venture in the Manchester would not be a viable option due to the traffic concerns. I have been searching available units for over 18 months including current available units at Strawberry Meadows and Botany Bay (both in Chorley), but unfortunately have been outpriced by proposed rents with being a fair new venture.”

If the plans are approved by Chorley Borough Council, the main operating hours will be 5-9pm on weekdays and 9am-4pm on weekends.
