BBC Radio 2 In The Park: How to get there, banned items and timings

The date for BBC Radio 2 In The Park festival is approaching fast, with thousands of people set to visit Preston’s Moor Park to enjoy live music and entertainment.

According to business groups the festival, taking place from 6 to 8 September, could be worth a £4 million shot in the arm for the city.

The festival will feature headline performances from popular acts such as Sting, Pet Shop Boys, Snow Patrol and Manic Street Preachers. You can see the full line-up here.

Travel

The event is taking place in Moor Park, Moor Park Avenue, Preston, PR1 6AS which is situated near the Deepdale Stadium.

If you are driving, take the A5085 down Blackpool Road and follow signs for the stadium.

The nearest bus stops are Lorraine Avenue, Ripon Street and Symonds Road. The closest one is a three minute walk away.

Those travelling from afar can get regular trains to Preston Railway Station where taxis and bus stops are located outside.

Further information on travel related to the festival is set to be announced soon.

Weather

The weather is far from predictable at the moment.

At Blog Preston, we use the Met Office for forecasts and they haven’t got dedicated day-by-day predictions up. We will be keeping a close eye on the weather and updating you nearer the time.

If rain is forecast, we recommend bringing wellies or boots as the site is predominately grass with minimal areas for cover.

BBC Radio 2 have said umbrellas are allowed on site, but those more than 1m long are not permitted.

Banned items

Banned items include: alcoholic drinks (these are to be bought inside the festival), glass items (including perfume and aftershave), large bags, barbecues, fireworks, flares, weapons, illegal substances, drugs, liquid fuels, selfie sticks, walkie talkies.

No animals except assistance dogs are permitted.

One folding chair or picnic blanket is permitted on site per person however, they can only be set up within the designated area on site as signposted.

Timings

BBC 2 have released approximate show times for each day of the festival however, they are subject to change. There is no re-admission. Once you have left the venue, you will not be able to return.

Friday 6 September:

Gates open – 17:00
Starts – 18:00
Last entry – 22:00
Ends – 23:00

Saturday 7 September:

Gates open – 11:00
Starts – 12:15
Last entry – 20:45
Ends – 21:45

Sunday 8 September:

Gates open – 11:00
Starts – 11:45
Last entry – 20:15
Ends – 21:30

Other information

All tickets are digital and can be accessed via the Ticketmaster app.

Food and drink will be available on site.

The event is cashless.

Anyone under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Under 16 wristbands will be available with space to write the phone number of an adult in case of emergency.

Bags are restricted to A4 size and only one per person.
