Described as having ‘an infectious energy on and off the field’, Jack was highly regarded by all members of UCLan’s American Football team.
His team paid a heartfelt tribute to him.
“A captain, a leader, a friend and someone who made life better just by being around. All of our thoughts are with his family, friends and partner and he will be missed by all, forever part of the Ramily.”
They added: “It was a privilege to know Jack and we feel very fortunate to have spent the time with him we did.”
Originally from Belfast, Jack graduated from a sport and exercise nutrition degree in 2016. He worked at iconic nightclub The Warehouse during his time in Preston,
He then moved to Yorkshire to start working as a police officer around Bradford and Leeds.
Money is being raised via GoFundMe for two charities chosen by his family.
Rob McCoubrey, Assistant Chief Constable for West Yorkshire Police, said: “We can confirm the victim was a serving police officer who was not on duty at the time of the incident.
“Full welfare support is being offered to his family and close colleagues at what is clearly a terrible time for them.”
