Preston’s Mayor, Councillor Phil Crowe was in attendance as Professor Peter Lloyd, Dean of the School of Arts and Media officially declared the exhibition open.

Peter said: “The high standard of work across so many disciplines is amazing and as a school, we’re very proud of the hard work the students put in to achieve this level of professionalism.

“With so many different creative areas to look at, there truly is something for everyone and I hope the public pops in to see it for themselves.”

Exhibitions include stop-motion animation, mythical illustrations and award-winning fashion designs.

Laura Henderson, 21, a fine art student was inspired by the Barbie movie to look at what it means for a woman to be beautiful as she ages. She painted portraits of the women in her family.

She said: “Society is obsessed with the idea of slowing down ageing and how beauty is viewed so I wanted to look at the important women in my life to capture their beauty and personality.”

Another student, Georgia Little who is studying animation, also took inspiration from her family to produce her stop-motion animation named ‘Pie of the Day’, which she has already started submitting to film festivals.

The University of Central Lancashire Degree Show is free to attend and open to the public until Friday 28 June in the Victoria Building, Hanover Building and the Engineering and Innovation Centre.

More information is available on the Degree Show website.
