Firefighters called to suspected gas leak in Warton

Firefighters remain in Warton during Saturday evening after a suspected gas leak.

Blog Preston understands the crews are centred around the section of Lytham Road in Warton just past the Townsend garage towards Ash Drive.

Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service say they sent four crews from St Annes, Blackpool, Penwortham and Preston to the gas leak – it’s listed as beginning around 5pm on Saturday (1 June).

Firefighters also put out a fire that was related to the gas leak – this took place on the corner of Ash Drive and Lytham Road.

There remains a strong smell of gas in and around the Lytham Road area in Warton – according to nearby residents.

The fire service is warning of road closures intermittently in Lytham Road and nearby streets as they work on the suspected gas leak.
