The M6 was shut between Preston and Garstang as emergency services scramble to an incident near Forton services.
Traffic was diverted off the motorway at Junction 32 (Broughton/M55).
The motorway was closed northbound between Junction 32 and Junction 33 of the M6.
Preston Police said the closure is due a crash.
Update: Police say a biker was seriously hurt in the crash
Motorists were asked to ‘find alternative routes and avoid the area if possibe’.
The crash took place around 7.15pm on Saturday (1 June).
Highways England North West said the North West Air Ambulance Service has been called and is on the scene.
Traffic was also being held on the southbound carriageway while the air ambulance lands. Traffic was released on the southbound side around 8.15pm and there is now no closure on the southbound motorway.
All closures were lifted around 1am on Sunday (2 June).
