Lancashire’s own tulip festival in Walton-Le-Dale has raised £2,100 for charity.
The longstanding festival bloomed for its sixth year, with hundreds of people arriving at plant nursery Brighter Blooms in Gillibrand Street to raise money for Rosemere Cancer Foundation and Fundatia Motivation Romania.
The weekend event was hosted by nursery proprietor Matthew Smith and his wife.

Matthew, who grows flowers, fruit and vegetables which he then sells to the public, showcased more than 60 varieties of tulips in a range of colours.
Visitors were invited to look at the tulip arrangements, and enjoy drinks and cakes, which were sold and served by a team of volunteers from both of the charities.
There was also a raffle and performances from Preston People’s Choir, a talk by Don Billington from Every Picture Tells a Story, on exotic plant species bromeliads and fruit tree grafting demonstrations.
