All trains heading between Preston and Glasgow and Edinburgh have been cancelled.

An amber weather warning for rain had been issued by the Met Office for Preston and much of the North of England. This has now passed but a yellow warning will remain in place until midday.

The heavy rain led to flood warnings being issued locally and has now also caused significant disruption on the rail network.
