A woman from Preston is handcycling from Ashton-on-Ribble to Blackpool Tower and back to raise money for a new wheelchair.
Pauline Doyle faced a life-altering challenge due to vascular issues which resulted in her losing both of her legs.
She explained that she tends to use her handcycle around Avenham Park twice a week for 10 miles but hasn’t travelled as far as Blackpool before.

Pauline’s wheelchair is getting too heavy and is limiting her mobility so she is asking for donations towards a lighter wheelchair.
Writing on her GoFundMe page, Pauline said: “Apart from my personal journey, I am passionate about giving back to others who face similar challenges for example The Amputation Foundation which is a charity who has giving me the opportunity to participate in white water rafting and zip world, so therefore it has been instrumental in providing me with invaluable support, and I wish to contribute by donating a portion of the raised funds to this organisation.”
Pauline will be handcycling from Ashton to Blackpool Tower and back on Sunday June 30, 2024.
She will be going via Freckleton, Warton and Lytham St Anne’s.
Pauline added: “Any contribution made, regardless of its size, will make an impact in my life. Together, we can overcome the challenges set before me, continue pursuing my passion for adventure, and help make an impact in our community.
“Thank you for considering supporting my journey. Your generosity and kindness will make a world of difference.”
You can support Pauline via her GoFundMe page.
