Rail passengers trying to use Preston Railway Station are being told to brace for 48-hours of disruption.
The latest rail strikes take place this week as ASLEF (the union which represents train drivers) walks out.
Avanti West Coast will be affected on Wednesday (8 May) with a 24-hour strike in place, which is likely to affect services during Tuesday evening and Thursday morning too.

The strike then rolls onto Northern and Transpennine Express services during Thursday (9 May) – which means disruption to those services from Wednesday evening and into Friday morning.
As well as the walk-outs there is also an overtime ban in place from the Bank Holiday Monday 6 May through to Saturday (11 May) which may lead to cancelled services and disruption.
The dispute between ASLEFF and the Rail Delivery Group – which represents train operators – is now approaching two-years without a resolution.
Avanti says it will not run any trains during the 8 May. And no rail replacement services will be put on either.
Customers with tickets for 8 May (purchased before 22 April) can claim a full fee-free refund from their point of purchase. Alternatively, tickets dated between 7 and 9 May can be used from Monday 6 May up to and including Monday 13 May. Further information is available on the Avanti strikes page.
Andy Mellors, Managing Director at Avanti West Coast, said: “We’re sorry our customers will face disruption to their travel plans when ASLEF go on strike on Wednesday – particularly those who will be returning to work after the Bank Holiday weekend.
“Anyone with tickets for 7 to 9 May can make their journey on alternative days or claim a full refund. While our advice to all customers making journeys between 6 and 11 May is to check before you travel. We’d like to thank our customers for their continued patience and understanding during this industrial action.”
Northern will not run any services during 9 May.
You can request a fee-free change of journey for all ticket types if the train is cancelled or delayed, or rescheduled from that in the published timetable of the day after you have purchased a ticket. See their strikes information page for more information.
