The Man V Fat Preston Elevens team, often called the Purple Cobras, has won the final of the National Championships for the second year in a row.
The team travelled down to Millwall FC on Sunday for the final match of this year’s season, playing against Walsall.
They knew they would be in for a ‘difficult game,’ playing on a blistering sunny day, against a ‘very physical’ team who had brought a lot of fans down to watch the match.

Despite this, Preston was determined to hit the ground running with the first kick of the ball.
Starting well, the team had two goals in the first ten minutes – courtesy of Bailey Donaldson.
However, Walsall were still putting pressure on Preston’s defence. For the remaining first half, the game was balanced but ‘very tightly contested’ with big tackles from Walsall which tested the team.

With a 2-0 lead to begin the second half, Preston decided to ‘give 100% until the final whistle’. They managed to get two quick-fire goals again.
‘A true testament to the hard work that Preston has put in, in terms of their fitness levels’, the opposing teams’ fatigue started to show, with Preston taking control.
The final whistle blew at 4-0 and the team were declared National Champions, awarded with trophies and medals from former England internationals, Paul Parker and Terry Butcher. Paul Stoke was crowned man of the match.

Lukas Bennett – known as Chewie, one of the Prestonian players said: “This season has been truly amazing for Preston and even though it has come to an end, we are looking forward to the future and are determined to make it three years in a row to be crowned national champions.
We would like to thank Man v Fat for hosting the competition and for everything that they do, as well as Walsall for the challenging game and wish them luck in future competitions.
“But, Preston would like to specifically give a huge thanks to Millwall FC for their hospitality and their treatment towards staff and players, they made the day extra special.”
