Man in his 30s stabbed in stomach in Plungington as woman arrested

A man in his 30s remains in hospital after a stabbing in the Plungington area of Preston.

Preston Police say they are treating two incidents as linked after being called to reports of a disturbance at a pub in the Plungington area and then a stabbing a short time later.

A police spokesperson said they were called to Arkwrights in Plungington Road at 7.03pm on Tuesday 28 May to reports of a disturbance, officers attended and police say those involved had left the area.

At 7.41pm police were called to Cambridge Close, off College Court, to reports of a stabbing.

A man in his 30s was found with a stab injury to his stomach and is in a ‘serious but stable condition’ in hospital.

A woman has been arrested on suspicion of Section-18 assault and affray.

A police spokesperson said: “We have a dedicated team of officers assigned to this case who are carrying out a number of enquiries. Reassurance patrols have been stepped up in the area as a precaution.

“The incidents are being treated as linked and are thought to involve parties known to each other.”
