A Longridge-based haulage firm that has operated in the town since 1966 has put its fleet of wagons under the hammer.
Carefoot Plc is based just off Derby Road, Longridge, and consists of three divisions covering construction, properties and transport.
And it is the Walter Carefoot and Sons (Transport) division which will see 24 Volvo HGV tractor units, 20 tipping trailers and a total of 274 lots sold at the Longridge depot by auctioneers Malcolm Harrison.

The Carefoot group is reported to employ about 90 people directly, with 33 employed on the haulage side.
It is understood that the construction and property arms of the business, which focus on commercial and residential construction projects respectively, are unaffected by the sale of the haulage business, which dealt in bulk haulage across the UK.
The Carefoot business was founded in 1929 by Walter Carefoot, who started out doing minor residential repairs and on-farm works.
