A road closure in Preston city centre has been lifted earlier than planned.
Lancaster Road – in a section along the back of the Harris and front of the Guild Hall – had been shut for crucial work in the restoration of the grade-I listed Harris.
A series of diversions for motorists and particularly city bus routes had been in place since Monday 29 April.

But head of culture at Preston City Council, Tim Joel, said the Harris work had finished ahead of schedule. The road had been due to be closed until Friday (10 May).
The closure had been due to the Harris installing new air handling units and roof gantries which required the road closure to give large cranes and machinery space to operate.
Lancaster Road is fully reopened and operating as usual as of Saturday (4 May).
The Harris is due to re-open in Spring 2025 after a multi-million pound restoration project.
