A police spokesperson said: “Meet Vera and Lewis. No, we haven’t decided to experiment with police cats (they tend not to be particularly good at doing what’s asked of them), they were discovered scampering around in a busy main road in Preston by HT37 last night.
“Ever the animal lover, HT37 retrieved them from the carriageway and took them to a vet to be checked over.
“Thankfully, although they are very young, the kittens suffered no harm and they are now with a local rescue awaiting rehoming as and when they are ready.”
