Travellers set up camp at Ribbleton Park.

A group of travellers have been spotted setting up camp at a park in Fishwick.

Images of the group on Waverley Park, locally known as Ribbleton Park, were sent to Blog Preston last night (21 May). The travellers also had a horse.

The horse was roaming on the grass in the park.

Preston City Council are beginning to progress eviction proceedings to ensure they move on.

A spokesperson said: “We are aware a group from the travelling community have stopped on Waverley Park. As is our duty of care, welfare checks will be carried out and eviction proceedings progressed.

“We are liaising with the group to ensure their egress from the park takes place as soon as possible.”
