Golf driver flew past police at 100mph on M6 driving under the influence with no insurance

A person has been arrested and a vehicle seized after an incident on the motorway network.

A Volkswagen Golf passed police on the M6 while travelling at over 100mph in an incident reported at around 2am this morning (27 May).

Police stopped the vehicle on the M61 where it was found the driver had a provisional licence, no insurance and had been drinking.

The driver was arrested and police seized the vehicle.

A spokesperson for police said: “This VW Golf passed the sergeant at over 100mph on the M6 at Preston.

“Vehicle stopped on the M61. Driver was a provisional licence holder, had no insurance and tested positive for alcohol.

“Driver arrested and vehicle seized.”
