The shortlist was compiled by a panel of judges, including school leaders and experts.
Key reasons for Highfield’s nomination include the fact that they have now held a top thirty potion in the best Independent Preparatory School in the country by The Sunday Times, for the last thirteen years.
In the academic year 2022-2023, they were ranked first in the North West and fifth Prep School in the UK.
As well as this, in 2023 the school received an ISA Award for Innovation and Excellence in Mental Health and Wellbeing, due to incorporating mental health education into their curriculum.

In October 2022, four teenagers broke onto the school site and set fire to their Nursery School. Despite this, the school and community came together, with teachers moving out of their classrooms to accommodate the nursery and parents and pupils bringing in toys.
In spite of the disruption, their year sixes achieved the highest Sunday Times ranking, with a 100% pass rate for both independent and grammar schools.
Winners of the Tes School Awards will be announced on 21 June at an awards night at the Grosvenor Hotel, Park Lane, in London.
Jon Severs, Editor of Tes Magazine said, “Congratulations to all the shortlisted entries – the standard was so high this year despite the challenges schools face. It is critical we celebrate excellence and share it widely so we can ensure that the fantastic work happening in education is properly recognised.”
