A former pub could soon be converted to housing almost two decades after closing down.
Sheffield-based SKO Services had lodged plans which would see the former Avenham Inn finally brought back to use. If approved, the building will be converted to house four one-bed flats spread across two floors.
The building, which also went by names including Avenham Park Inn, Avenham Tavern and Avenham Hotel, sits on the corner of Avenham Lane and Great Avenham Street. It had featured in the Good Beer Guide on multiple occasions before its closure but the last pints were poured there in 2007.

It has largely sat empty ever since then, though the application describes its last known usage as offices. Its frontage has been rebuilt since closure but the windows and doors remain boarded up.
Preston City Council will decide whether to approve the plans and if the conversion does takes place as planned, it will mirror that of the Palatine pub which was located on the same junction. That pub closed down in 2000 and was converted to residential use.
